Who is responsible for your data

Your Italian Teacher is run by Valeria Verona, VAT number IT 03660550926, Italy. For anything about your personal data, write to valeria@youritalianteacher.net.

What we collect, and why

Your account. Name, email address and a password (stored only in hashed form, never readable). We need these to give you access to what you buy and to your learning area. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.

Purchases and invoices. What you buy and the billing details needed to issue an invoice. Italian law requires an electronic invoice for every payment, transmitted to the national exchange system (Sistema di Interscambio) of the Italian Revenue Agency. Legal basis: legal obligation. Invoices are kept for 10 years, as the law requires.

Payments. Card and payment details are handled entirely by our payment provider, Stripe. They never reach our servers. See Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle them.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address and a record of your consent (when and from which page). Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also turn the newsletter off from your profile at any time. Legal basis: consent.

Guided programs. If you join a guided program we process the work you submit (writing, audio recordings) and the teacher's corrections, including voice notes. Joining an edition adds you to that edition's participant list, used for messages about the program itself. Promotional emails are a separate, optional choice you can make at checkout. Some program exchanges may happen over Telegram, an external messaging service with its own privacy policy: using it is your choice, and an in-platform alternative is the direction we are building.

Waiting lists. If enrollment is closed and you leave your email, we use it to tell you when it reopens.

Lessons and bookings. Your lesson times and your timezone, so lessons happen at the time you expect.

Course progress. Which lessons you completed and your quiz results, so your area reflects where you are.

What we don't do

Statistics without cookies

We count visits with our own first-party system, built to identify nobody: the identifier is a salted hash that changes every day, the IP address is never stored, and the country of a visit is computed on our own server from a local database. Yesterday's visitor and today's cannot be linked. This is why you see no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies: one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers your language preference. No tracking cookies of any kind.

Who processes data on our behalf

Where a provider involves processing outside the EU, it is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep your data

Your account lives until you delete it. Invoices are kept 10 years by law. Consent records are kept as proof of consent. Anonymous statistics identify no one and are kept as such.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your data. Export and deletion are self-service: from your profile you can request a full archive of your data (sent to your email address) and you can delete your account, which anonymizes everything about you — except invoices, which the law requires us to keep. You can withdraw any consent at any time. For anything else, or to object to a processing, write to valeria@youritalianteacher.net. If you believe we mishandled your data you can lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date. For meaningful changes affecting registered users, we tell you by email.
